Thanks for the reply. I found my lil 250R on craigslist and have seen a few 650R's for around 2K. Have you ever done a trip down to mexico on your XR?

A few weeks a go, I rode from Tucson through Reddington Rd to Benson and back to Tucson VIA I10. the road is badly washboarded, That being said, Ill meet and go with. Assuming you mean the road along the San Pedro through Cascabel. If other unknown roads to me , all the better. I think the best "time" would be either the Sat before superblow Sun. or the weekend after.

Back in the dirt. I just picked up an 04 XR650L. I have been riding dirt/street for a long time. I have been out of the dirt for a few years.

I will get the legal part done Monday, and will need to get my dirt legs back.
I also have to figure out how to mount that bike gracefully. Being short and fat, there really is no graceful.
But my feet do touch the gound. See ya soon.

As far as the KLR vs XR vs DR. They are all bullet proof. The KLR goes more towards roads, black top and dirt. DR is less street and more dirt. The XR is by far the more aggressive dirt oriented bike. I have had a DR and now an XR. I have not had much time on the XR and many many miles on the DR.
I would first look at the type of riding you want to do. The KLR is the only liquid cool model of the 3.
